I didn’t vote for this but it seems to be just another concept of ping.fm, google homepage, or netvibes. Not innovative, decent looking site. However, I did enjoy the witty Chuck Norris comment.
awesome job!, i was waiting for something like this!!
i just got my google profile but it was so not as i wanted.
i hope you keep working on this. XD
I’m going to agree with a few of the other comments…it’s graphically pleasing, but I don’t get why it’s useful. What the world doesn’t need is another social networking site. Especially one that tries to be THE site for all other sites. Sorry, but I wouldn’t put this under “inventive.”

Felicitaciones Koombea!!
I don’t like to have to go to my email to get a confirmation before setting up my account. Many people cannot check personal email while at work.
This, I’m sure is a common debate. There must be an easier way to confirm rather than through personal email. Thanks!
Awesome idea! Very innovative and useful!
There seem to be so many sites out there that trying to be THE place to bring all of the social networking feeds together for an individual. This is not an original idea.
Many more things can be added to it, like latest blog posts, last.fm songs playlists etc. great job till now. :)
excellent work guys!
Hmm … very great … I love the flickr of my profile … they are not loaded either.. but I love easy for user <3 … so many other comments have many ellipsis too!
The site looks very nice, but I honestly don’t see why this scores so high on innovation. It has been done before. But nice job for 48 houres. 3/4/1/2
Summary
I just re-read my notes and I guess I don’t have a lot to say that’s positive. I feel that it’s neither the newest idea nor very well executed. That said, I’d probably use this on a personal level once the kinks are worked out because I don’t currently use anything like it and hey, it’s built in rails! 4/1/1/3
When in Edit your profile page, each time you save it adds a twitter account
Here is an app I might actually use:-)
killer domain (duh), but perhaps a bit more control would be nice on whats displayed. Say what if i set up top level filters and hi.im only showed updates from all of my networks with that filter (maybe for the project im working on at the time)
The visuals are soft and fuzzy, but don’t necessarily give you a strong sense of what you should be doing. The inability to delete practically anything from your profile (including your whole profile) is really frustrating. It seems that for an app that’s so CRUD-oriented, you’d at least be able to D.
@dusting: Cool ideas, those just got a top priority for our new release!
i like this app … i hope the release will be complete
I love this app.. when it start?
i like this! … i’m waiting the release ..
good app …
The obvious things missing here are
1. rel=“me” microformat links so this thing can start taking off on its own and actually represent me well and
2. a quick call out to the social graph API to fill in all of the links for me instead of asking me to do them one by one (and leaving many options out)
@dweinand thanks for you feedback. Most of those issues you point out, will be addressed on Monday. I’ve also sent you an email with further information.
I found most of the creation process to be rather confusing.
I would rather have had none of the information be required and sent directly to the unfilled out page, so I could get some context before being prompted for all kinds of information. It wasn’t clear how information would be used, nor if I’d be able to change it later. For instance:
It also would have been nice if I could have decided if and when I wanted to make my profile public. Right now, I’d settle for just being able to delete my account.
It wasn’t clear what you were going to do with the various social networks. I was expecting more than just links for networks besides flickr and twitter. As it is, it doesn’t really seem all that useful, nor impressive.
Unlike some of the other entries, this one actually feels like something that was thrown together in 48 hours.
good
cool
nice app =)
Great idea, some of the forms were unclear of what that information was to be used for (or what it should contain). The step one page was done, the others could use some work. Also, I entered james.pierce as the slug for my name and it returns a 404 error and it appears there is no way to edit my profile without getting to it. There should be error handling on that. Confirmation emails are lame.
I saw this page working in a friend account and it looks really cool and I like the design a lot, lets wait until the next release if I can see it fully functional :)
wow! excellent idea!!! i signed up already, and im really looking forward to it =)
Very good job!
There are some typos, and some of the images are broken.
This has such great potential. However, I found the page creation process to be cumbersome. Fields should be optional if a person doesn’t want to include them (like company). People may or may not want to share that information with teh interwebs. Yeah, I know. Social networking blah blah. People are weird though. :p Great job!
i like your job good thinked
that`s a wonderfull job congratulations lets go on
Same as onxiam.com?
@Brian Hogan – very flattering to be compared to LinkedIn, Krop, and Google profiles. Do we do it better? After only 48 hours, probably not. But someday maybe ;) Really appreciate the feedback.
Appearance is standard fare – gradients, bright colors. It looks nice and will get customers, so that’s a win. I’m looking at more than just your colors though. Your forms are not always intuitive, and the lack of a preview makes it very hard to tell what I’m building.
Completeness: there were some problems with validation and I ran into a couple of issues where things saved but it said I didn’t.
Innovation: LinkedIn, Krop, and Google Profiles do the same thing. Do you do it better? I don’t think so.
Usefulness: I certainly think it’s useful, especially from a personal marketing standpoint.
@jonathant Thanks very much for your response. I appreciate that your intentions were primarily to inform users – who may not have been aware of the Rumble restrictions on site updates – as to the status of the site, and when updates would be pushed out. While it may have been a poor judgment call to use this information, I appreciate your quick response and assurance that our information is still secure and that this will not become a pattern. Best of luck with the rest of the Rumble, and in your future updates.

I like the application. Actually I went through all the hassle of creating an account even if openid was not an option and I had to receive yet another confirmation e-mail.
I thought since the 37-like registration page said clearly “We will use this for confirmation, and will NOT spam you” it would be safe. Well, you have proven me wrong :)
I just received an e-mail to ask for my vote, the literal subject being “Hi, I’m Needs Your Vote!” and the reason given in the e-mail is “You are receiving this email because you signed up for Hi.im”
So much for not spamming.
Anyway, the application is cool. Spammy, but nice
Nice work, guys. Your website could be left-aligned but it might not be as pretty. :-)
good app … complete, usefull , innovating … nice appearance … congratulations guys
@gisikw We got your message loud and clear. In the 48 hours we had, adding a TOS and Privacy Policy was something we missed. That was our bad. We’ll be updating as soon as we’re allowed to. Today, we sent an email to registered users of Hi, I’m because while many of them were visiting us via Rails Rumble, we’ve had a significant number who weren’t. We wanted to let those users know why they may be finding some bugs and what we were doing about it. We also wanted to let them know how they could participate in the judging process. Like the rest of the teams, if people liked our app, we appreciate their reviews here. We also appreciate the feedback that you gave us in your judging process. We’re looking to turn Hi, I’m into something sustainable and hope we don’t stumble too bad along the way. Thank, Jonathan Tarud
5/5 Wow! best design i seen so far in competition, easy to use, and KILLER URL,
(Hi, i’m) design
not anymore share my info, and my social media, i just tell people hey i am this!!
needs some bug to fix, but i am exited to check new releases!
you are in a good track guys, awesome work!
Appearance: 3/5
The color scheme is fair, but it uses too many accent colors, meaning that the eye is not immediately drawn to the most important content. Could stand better management of horizontal space on the homepage. There homepage shouldn’t require scrolling to see featured content.
Completeness: 2/5
There are some severe Ajax issues here. Adding additional items didn’t quite seem to work the way it was supposed to. There’s no mechanism for removing records – and even leaving them blank didn’t remove the items. This application has a lot of work to do before it’s a viable site.
Innovation: 2/5
This isn’t particularly innovative, as there are contact aggregators already. The site URL is phenomenal, and if this team had done more to leverage that – suggesting that the simplicity of the URL makes it a better alternative – this would have been stronger.
Usefulness: 1/5
This site has the potential to be a useful tool, but it would take heavy marketing for it to really take over. It’s like any social networking site – only truly useful once it gets adopted by a majority. However, sharing email accounts (and who knows what other information) without a privacy policy is an abuse of the RailsRumble system. If user account information are going to be provided to other parties, it should be documented in the privacy policy, and I am appalled that this team would try to leverage that information to give them an advantage.
Overall, this application has potential, but has some major flaws – mostly with adding and removing networks – that make the site difficult to use. Finally, using user account information to send out emails promoting yourself is really not fair – and made worse by the fact that it was not sent by the Hi.im application. Next time, publish a user privacy page, so people know what they’re getting into before they get stuck.
-Kevin W. Gisi
Remove my account immediately. My username is gisikw, and I don’t appreciate you sharing my account information with an external mailing service without any notification on signup, and no associated privacy policy on the page.
Nice idea and good design. A few quirks: I ended up with 2 Twitter accounts and wasn’t able to delete one of them. Things like my Github network don’t show up. And my flickr feed doesn’t work at all.
very cool … i think it is nice … like a virtual presentation card … very usefulness and innovation … i love the appearance …
Agree with Ryan, it was really confusing, as i expected it to aggregate my accounts and create a page for me using that.
The search boxes isn’t to find yourself, although that’s a cool idea. It only finds people who have already created hi.im pages. It would be cool if you put in your usual user name and it searched the other networks for you and generated your page…then let you edit it.
Hey yeah I couldn’t find myself either, tried tags and real name.
couldn’t find my accounts :(
The site is well put together, but there are any number of existing “hey create a site about yourself” sites already out there (chi.mp, Google profiles, Plaxo, etc. etc.). The “Hi, I’m” domain is clever though.
another content aggregator without any real innovation other than the admittedly clever name. Not something I’d ever use.
this app is a good start! I’ve been looking for a simple “This is me” type page that blows away google’s profile page. Great idea. My .02 – the registration workflow is a bit arduous. Why do I have to enter a twitter acct and some other information just to get started?
Couldn’t find me and I’m on every major, and a lot of the minor social networks. I tried all three of my major nicks.
I really love the concept about this and the url is nothing but awesome I can wait to see this app fully working.
I’m rating it 5 for usefulness, but it really depends on people starting to use it. If you figure a good way to market it so people start referring to the hi.im page, then this has the potential to be awesome. If not… well, it’s going to be yet another profile to maintain :)
i think hi.im is the best app in railsrumble … very usefull … nice appearance … easy for users …
I was needing something like this … very innovative … i love it!!!
Congratulations for hi.im’s developers

Design is awesome! Really dig it!
Overall, the site is cool, but it seems like it’s been done before and I don’t see anything that really differentiates your app.
ok!
I think this team hit a bullseye with Hi.im
the design is great
WE are the best in the world!!
I wouldn’t require a headline and description. Just wanting to try it out, you’re left kinda stuck like, “eh, I guess I’ll put in placeholder text”. Perhaps have some default values that indicate it’s the default, ie “’s headline”.
‘Company’ was required even though the form didn’t have the little ‘required’ hint. In addition, I generally don’t associate myself with a company on public type things like this.
For adding networks, you might be able to default to a user’s hi.im name. Mine ended up being the same for each, for example.
It might be useful to preview your page as you are making it, because I had no idea what ‘Links’ was supposed to be, and it was required, until I went back and read the heading more closely.
In general, it might be easier on a user to require less information upfront to get going.
APPEARANCE AND UI: Very professional design. The first split-second impression is that this is a solid, well designed site. That counts for a lot. Also, the appearance is very friendly, right down to the “Hi”. Very well done. Small touches like the use of italic font in the “Find someone” box and the nice looking buttons are appreciated.
Bonus points for lazy sign up! Love that you can create a page without signing up or logging in. Let’s users see how it works without handing over account information or signing up for another service. Perfect.
Also like the helpful and easy-to-read prompts all along the way.
COMPLETENESS: I did see a couple glitches. I entered two Highlights but only one is showing on my public page. Also, it seems reasonable that a complete profile would include basic contact info. I know I could put that in my ‘You in 250 characters or less’ info, but I’d expect to see a Contact section similar to Networks where you could specify 0 to n ways to contact me (phone, skype, email, etc.).
INNOVATION: There’s a lot of potential here as a content and social network aggregator, but in general this is not a particularly innovative app. There are already too many alternatives out there.
USEFULNESS: I am using this for real. http:/hi.im/smeade Clever domain name makes it that much more useful.
When I was filling out my page I wanted to go back and see an example page to know what the field was, but the app would only open up the same input screen in the new tabs.
I love this app. But it has a few small issues:
Looks great and was pretty intuitive to use. Some helpers to determine your network links would be nice. FYI – the “View Public Page” link is broken.
I don’t think the search field should be placed as prominently on the front page while the data set is limited. If one does perform a search I would like to see a guess at some more useful information which might go with the name. Almost like an instant profile along with a link to turn it into a true Hi I’m account.
Confused how this is better/different than card.ly
Every website and their grandmother has this functionality already (the ability to add where you are online). I don’t really see this becoming the place to do it.
Harshness aside, the design is very nice and the search is fantastic!
Excellent!!!
Really well designed. Nice, simple and fun to use. Thanks.
Very nice work, not necessarily innovative but the very well designed UI and easy to use interface make it a fun place for people to create their online business card. Unless you have some pretty unique idea lined up I would imagine it will be very difficult to monetize (not everything is meant to be monetized)
@mojombo: The idea of the highlights is to show something cool you’ve done that might get lost in the “stream” of information coming from all your feeds. It’s like an editorial of one of your highlights. We could have explained that better. We’ve already squashed all the bugs and hopefully you’ll be able to see it on our saturday release once the competition is complete.
This is a nice little app. The design and usability are both really well done. One of the only things that wasn’t very clear was the point of highlights. I couldn’t quite figure out what I was supposed to enter for those. Also, the feeds that appear below the main profile info on my public profile aren’t formatted very well and don’t seem to work all that great. The GitHub Favicon isn’t loading properly, which is a bit distracting. Overall, this looks like a nice start to a comprehensive landing page. If things are cleaned up a bit more, I might actually think about linking my hi.im page from my blog!
Thanks! There are some bugs, we are aware, but on the next release all of them are planned to be exterminated PLUS more features coming up!
Pretty cool app
It looks professional. Nice work guys.
